Transitional Housing
The YWCA of Jamestown's Transitional Housing Program provides safe and
affordable housing and support services to women and children who are homeless
or at risk of being homeless.  The program offers opportunities for residents to
identify their capabilities and to develop the new skills necessary to be successful
at healthy independent living.

Homelessness occurs for many reasons:

  • Domestic Violence
  • Substandard Housing
  • Loss of Income
  • Post-hospitalization
  • Post-substance Abuse Rehabilitation
  • Drug Court Participation
  • Post-incarceration
  • Relocation
  • Teen Pregnancy/ Parenting
  • Eviction
  • Lack of Independent Living Skills

*Staff assists with every aspect of transition from homelessness to self-
sufficiency, financial independence and safe permanent housing.

Residents receive support and assistance from community resources and YWCA staff
through the following on-site services:

  • Crisis Intervention
  • Housing Needs Assessment
  • Information/Referrals
  • Case Management
  • Safety Assessments
  • Personal and Legal Advocacy
  • Domestic Violence Support Group
  • Assistance with Educational Goals
  • Assistance with Employment Goals
  • Landlord/ Tenant Negotiations
  • Family Activities
  • Budgeting and Smart Shopping
  • Grocery Shopping and Errand Runs
  • Educational Workshops
  • After-Care Services

The Transitional Housing Program is a communal living facility for:
  • Women age 16 or older
  • Women with or without children
  • Non-custodial mothers
  • Pregnant teens

References are required
Minimal Rent includes all utilities
Secure building
Laundry facilities

We are handicapped accessible

Referrals to the program are accepted, but not required
